Rodrygo Goes has emerged as an attacking transfer target for Liverpool manager JurgenKlopp who’s keen to bolster his squad next month in a bid to cover the loss of two big players to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon. Liverpool are set to be without the attacking duo of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for around one month due to the AFCON tournament.

Salah and Mane are widely regarded as two of the most important players at Liverpool and it would be a crushing blow for the Reds who are in the hunt for the Premier League title this season alongside defending champions Manchester City and Chelsea. At the moment, Liverpool are second on the league table after a run of three straight wins. They are one point adrift of leaders Manchester City and they have one more point than Chelsea in third place.

Mane and Salah are the top two source of goals at Liverpool this season. Egyptian international Salah has the most goals amongst the Premier League players in all competitions with 20 goals. In addition, Salah is the leading goalscorer in the Premier League this season with 13 goals in 14 games. He would be the main man for Egypt in their quest to win the AFCON tournament.

On his part, Mane is the joint second topscorer at Liverpool this season with nine goals alongside Portugal international Diogo Jota. He’s the main man for Senegal ahead of the AFCON tournament.

The potential signing of Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid will go a long way to soften the blow of losing the two aforementioned Liverpool players to the AFCON tournament.
